AVS STEPS SHORTLISTED FOR 2008 FLEET VAN SUPPLIER AWARD

AVS Steps is pleased to announce that it is has been shortlisted in the Specialist Equipment Provider category at this year's 2008 Fleet Van Awards, which takes place on December 2 at the National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham.

AVS Steps, the world’s largest automotive step specialist has been shortlisted for this award as a result of the company’s success over the last 12-18 months in helping fleet van operators address health and safety concerns relating to repetitive strain injuries and manual handling from drivers repeatedly jumping in and out of a vehicle on a daily basis.  To date, AVS Steps has supplied a range of manual and electric steps to utility companies such as Severn Trent Services, National Grid, Wales and West Water and Scottish Water, and is now working with many more fleet van operators in both the private and public sectors.

Keith Clarke, AVS Steps’ Managing Director is thrilled to be shortlisted in the Specialist Equipment Provider awards category and says: “The van fleet sector is a relatively new but a significantly growing market for AVS Steps.   A day spent climbing up and down 2ft or more of step is a tough day for anybody, and this is why both manual and electric steps are now finding their way into the workplace vehicle market.”

“Our steps provide a quality cost effective solution to health and safety issues arising from drivers who frequently access and egress the load compartment through the side or back entry doors and are proving to help reduce the stresses on leg joints associated with stepping into heights, as well as minimising slips trips and falls around commercial vehicles.  We are therefore very proud that we have been recognised as a specialist equipment supplier at this year’s Fleet Van Awards.”

To provide safe access into or out of a vehicle, AVS Steps has developed a range of electric and foot-operated steps in various configurations to suit the van fleet market which can then be modified by step height, tread or width for example, to suit company’s individual needs and specific vehicle requirements (side and rear access).  The extensive product portfolio includes foot operated steps, double, treble and quadruple manual fold out steps, electric automatic steps, 3 and 4 tier electric steps and electric scissor action steps for display vehicles.

AVS products are designed and manufactured in the UK, and sold both direct and through a network of distributors, world-wide.  AVS has based its products on a cassette design using electric or foot operation to power the steps.  Committed to quality, the company undertakes the most comprehensive range of testing procedures in the industry to ensure its steps meet and exceed all legal requirements, and most importantly meet customers’ demands.  AVS supports products from cradle to grave with quality control maintained during build, packing and despatch.  A UK installation service is provided and a comprehensive after sales support service through the company’s unique network of accredited agents.

Organised by Fleet Van Magazine, the inaugural Fleet Van Awards have been designed to highlight the wealth of talent among companies and individuals within the fleet van industry.  Fleet managers, fleet suppliers and fleet manufacturers from across the country will be awarded for their achievements during the prestigious black tie Awards ceremony on the evening of the 2008 Fleet Van Conference.
